Transfer of Title

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.(Ps 16:5) 

We invoke the Almighty for His blessing, direction and guidance that He will nourish our judgements, decisions and agreements with discretion and common sense to resolve amicably in mutual respect and harmony any unforeseen eventuality or circumstance which may befall each or both parties entering into this agreement. 

We pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of our deceased forebears who are hereby entrusting us with their rich legacy and that our legacy be at least equally highlighted by the future generations as we do hereby acknowledge that of our forefathers.

Furthermore, we pray that as we approach the year 2000 this agreement be remembered as a joint Millennium Project of the BOC (Birmingham Orthodox Cemetery) Committee and that of the congregation of St. Mary the Protectress UOC of Melville; that our ancestors, our forebears, our forefathers might speak to us from their graves with a qualifying message of  "Well Done!"

 It is hereby understood and agreed that the following guidelines be adopted and observed:

•  1) the St. Mary the Protectress UOC of Melville extends a heartfelt welcome to all BOC members, past and present 

•  2) the BOC members and all others associated with BOC consider membership-in-communion with the St. Mary the Protectress UOC of Melville

•  3) the established committee of the BOC will maintain its status quo as heretofore in perpetuity of its inheritence:

  • a) it is to be self-sustaining (supporting)

  •  b) it is to be self-directing (governing)

  •  c) other Christian, non-Orthodox denominations have made interments in this cemetery and this practice is to be retained subject to the approval of the BOC Executive.

•  4) the BOC Committee must provide representation to the St. Mary the Protectress UOC meetings and must at all times accommodate representation from the St. Mary the Protectress UOC of Melville to its meetings

•  5) the treasurer of the BOC Committee must provide three (3) copies of an audited financial statement to the secretary-treasurer of St. Mary the Protectress UOC of Melville as required by Revenue Canada and UOCC 

•  6) the BOC is to retain its name in all references and documentation
